Extension Posts

When fabricating a base plate for your table-top Model 23H Hand Crank Seamer or Model 23 or 24 Belt Drive Seamer, we need to know if you have extension posts in your machine. The following information should help you make that determination. This information is needed to let us know how long to make the stem of the base plate so that the can will be lifted into the correct seaming position.

If you already know you have a Model 24-700 (for example) you can ignore the rest of this page. The “700″ in the model name tells us your seamer will accept cans up to 7″ tall.

This machine does not have extension posts. Note that the seam roll lever fits flush to the cast aluminum frame where indicated by the red line.

This seamer would be either a Model 23-500 or a Model 24-500. It can accept cans up to 5″ tall.

This machine has extension posts indicated by the red marks. The extension posts may be marked with either 3-digit or 4-digit numbers such as 509, 604, 700, 1210, etc. If the posts are marked with a number, this is the information we need. For example, if the posts are marked “700″ then the machine would be either a Model 23-700 or a Model 24-700.

If the posts are not marked, please measure the EXPOSED part of the post. We can determine the length of the extension posts based on this information.
Extension posts allow the seamer to accept cans taller than 5 inches.
