Steam Boiler Capacity Requirements
Table to determine approximate Boiler Horse Power required to operate steam consuming equipment for various operating times. Figures are based on normal operations from cold start to boiling point. Normal radiation losses have been allowed and it is assumed that the equipment is properly installed and operated.

For good operating performance, your water pressure should be in excess of 40 psi and boiler steam pressure from 60 to 80 psi with ample recovery capacity. When boiler steam pressure exceeds operating pressure of equipment item, you should provide steam pressure reducing valve and pipe strainer. All retorts should be provided with pressure or temperature regulating valves to maintain constant operating temperature. Pressure and/or temperature regulating valves and instruments are available for almost any application desired.
